Ed Walker for State Senate | District 29

March 19, 2010 | Ed Walker announces bid for State Senate District 29

On February 12th, conservative Republican Edward Walker filed election paperwork to run for the Montana State Senate.   He is running to replace retiring State Senator Dan McGee of Laurel.  The district is comprised of nine Yellowstone County precincts on the west side of Billings, Laurel, and a small portion of Carbon County

“I got into this race because I’m shocked at the way the federal and state government, under the leadership of liberal politicians have heaped mounds of debt on future generations”, he proclaimed.  Ed Walker promises to fight hard against wasteful government spending.

The race pits the 39 year old businessman and political newcomer against former state Legislator Penny Morgan.  Ms. Morgan served 4 terms in the Montana State Legislature from 2001 to 2009. Her most notable vote of the 2009 session was a YES vote on HB 645 which appropriated the federal stimulus and recovery funds in Montana.  A bill that Governor Brian Schweitzer signed later into law.

The winner of the June 8th Republican primary will take on 25 year old Friedrick Schweitzer, an activist nephew of Governor Brian Schweitzer in the November general election.
