Ed Walker for State Senate | District 29
Less Spending & Lower Taxes
We have a serious problem in Montana. We are taxed too high, and the government spends too much. Republican Ed Walker is a fiscal conservative who knows that government spending is out of control. We are spending our children's future and weakening our economy at the same time. It does not have to be that way. We cannot spend our way into prosperity. Instead we need to cut government programs, significantly lower taxes, then get out of the way and let business people do what they do best – Grow.
Creating Jobs for Montana
Government doesn't create jobs, people do. As a businessman, Ed Walker has created jobs. He knows firsthand what it takes to create growth and improve small businesses. He will protect those who create jobs by fighting burdensome government regulations and overbearing taxes. As your State Senator, Ed Walker will support those who create jobs – not punish them. Montana's economic future needs to include the three "C's" - Cattle, Coal, and Crude.
Developing Energy Independence
Our nation has an energy crisis. Montana is the epicenter of energy opportunities. Ed Walker knows the solution - put Montanans to work by utilizing our vast untapped resources here at home and cut our dependence on foreign oil. We have the resources right here in our backyard. Our livelihood has always come from the earth. Ed Walker is open to utilizing all of the resources that we have abundantly in Montana like coal, oil, natural gas, wind, bio fuels, geothermal, and nuclear.
Making Healthcare More Affordable
Republican Ed Walker will fight any attempt to create government-run health care. He knows our country has the best physicians and hospitals in the world and believes that health care should remain in the hands of individuals and caregivers - not the state or federal government. Ed Walker's Plan: First, comprehensive tort reform. Second, give tax credits to employers AND those who buy their own insurance. Third, open the market to allow for purchasing across state lines. Fourth, incentivize doctors to participate in "fee for service" arrangements. A free and open market approach will lower the cost of insurance and make health care more affordable for everyone.
Standing Up for Our Second Amendment
Montanans are gun owners, and Ed Walker is no different. Montana gun laws are among the best in the nation and Ed will retain these good gun laws and work to make them even better for gun owners. Ed believes the 2nd Amendment is clear and that government should pass no law that restricts the right of any law-abiding citizen to purchase, own and legally use firearms.
Preserving Family Values
As a father of five, Ed Walker understands what it means to protect America's traditional family values. Ed is Pro-Life and will vote that way in the State Senate. Like you, Ed Walker supports traditional marriage between one man and one woman.
Education
Education is one of those rare cases where you DON'T get what you pay for. We need a fresher, competitive, modern, free market approach to educating the next generation of leaders. Ed Walker believes that we can provide the funding for quality education by developing our natural resources here in Montana. However, the money needs to follow the student. As a father who has children attending Montana's public schools, Ed will be a strong proponent of education in the State Senate.
